Ranking the Current Top 10 Best BFL Uniforms (2024)
It seems like every NFL offseason, we see new uniform announcements. These could be new helmets, slightly tinkering with the existing design, or doing a massive overhaul like the Houston Texans did.
We learned about many of the new designs around the time of the NFL Draft, and it would be interesting to know how these new designs impacted NFL betting sites in terms of these teams with new jerseys receiving Super Bowl futures bets. For me, I was tempted to follow the announcement of one particular jersey, which made it to No. 1 on my list.
Check out my rankings for the top 10 best NFL uniforms heading into the 2024 season.
- 10. Indianapolis Colts
- 9. Detroit Lions
- 8. New York Jets
- 7. Buffalo Bills
- 6. Houston Texans
- 5. Philadelphia Eagles
- 4. Los Angeles Rams
- 3. Baltimore Ravens
- 2. Los Angeles Chargers
- 1. Minnesota Vikings
10. Indianapolis Colts
Ranking NFL uniforms is always a tough task, especially when it’s limited to the top 10, but I’ll kick it off with the Colts.
While it’s not exactly the most intricate design, the new Colts alternate jersey, with its dark blue jersey and black helmet, works so well together and is among the best jerseys in the NFL.
The helmet is completely black with a blue Colts horseshoe. This contrast allows the horseshoe to pop even more than if on a white background. Then, down the middle of the helmet, there’s a single blue line with a white border.
The jersey and pants have two horizontal lines on the shoulder pads and two vertical lines running down the sides of the pants.
Again, design-wise, nothing is super flashy here. Still, the black helmet on the dark blue jersey and white lettering are aesthetically pleasing.
9. Detroit Lions
Coming off a stellar 2023-24 campaign, the Lions unveiled new jerseys ahead of this upcoming season, which made ranking NFL uniforms a bit easier as I had to include them.
The home jerseys received a new, slightly brighter shade of blue. The facemask is also blue, and the inside of the collar has “ONE PRIDE” spelled out on it.
Admittedly, the away jerseys are a bit underwhelming, but there are some nice touches, such as the inside collar spelling out “313” to represent where the team is from.
The block lettering on the away jerseys is OK, but this is far from intimidating.
Where it gets even better, though, are the alternate jerseys.
These jerseys are black with blue lettering for the numbers and team names.
The helmet is essentially the inverse of the alternate Colts helmet. It has the Lions signature blue color with black lines down the middle.
I will always like the black-out look. It looks imposing. The Lions have some of the best jerseys in the NFL, and these will probably climb my list as the offseason progresses.
8. New York Jets
The previous jerseys, worn since 2019, were questionable, but now, heading into 2024, the Jets uniforms will have a more classic look.
Known as the “Legacy Collection,” these are reminiscent of the New York Sack Exchange teams with Joe Klecko and Mark Gastineay from the 1980s.
The new white jersey was introduced in 2023, but it also has a completely green look and blacked out with white lettering and green markings.
You’re probably noticing a trend: Black jerseys will always be a favorite of mine, especially when the colors make sense to me.
7. Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills have three jerseys. One is blue, one is red, and one is white. However, each uniform pulls it off quite well.
Of the three, the blue jerseys with white lettering and red borders are my favorite. These jerseys also include white stripes on the shoulders with a red border, and the logo is prominently displayed on the white helmet.
The red jersey is essentially the same, replacing the blue jersey with red, but when I see these, I can’t help but think of the old-school New England Patriots jerseys.
Nonetheless, all three looks are excellent, and it helps when your quarterback is Josh Allen, whose performance helps carry the overall look.
6. Houston Texans
After being one of the worst teams in the NFL in 2022, the additions of quarterback C.J. Stroud, head coach DeMeco Ryans, and more elevated the Texans to a playoff win in 2023.
Coming off that massive season, the team has completely overhauled their uniforms, including their helmets.
One jersey is mostly red with dark blue stripes. The helmet is also the same red color with blue horns.
Two other jersey types include their signature dark blue look and one that’s all white with blue horns on the shoulders and a red coloring in the middle.
However, my favorite is their new jersey, which also has a totally reimagined helmet look.
The helmet doesn’t have the classic Texans logo. Instead, it has a fancy-looking “H” with a star next to it. The “H” is a lighter blue with a red outline on a dark blue helmet.
The jersey had the same red as the all-red jerseys, but for the lettering and, the same light blue used in the “H” outlines it.
These are going to be a lot of fun to check out in 2024.
5. Philadelphia Eagles
If the Eagles donned Kelly Green jerseys every week, they might just become one of my favorite teams to watch in the NFL. These jerseys have been used for a long time, but there’s something so classic about them. The tint of green almost feels like it shows the design limitations back in 1935. The Eagles’ wings on the helmet are white, and the Kelly Green somehow makes this pop in a way you wouldn’t expect.
Additionally, the more “traditional” and often-used jerseys are fine with a black jersey, white lettering, dark green outline, green helmet, white wings, and black outline.
To me, it’s all about the Kelly Green jerseys. These are some of the coolest NFL uniforms of all time.
4. Los Angeles Rams
The royal blue jersey color and extremely bright gold/yellow go together exceedingly well. These jerseys can be immediately spotted in a crowd. The grey jerseys with blue letters also have a blue helmet with gold horns, and this also looks awesome as the yellow line down the side of the pants adds that extra pop.
There’s also a jersey with gold pants with blue lines, but I prefer the mostly blue look with gold lettering, gold arches on the shoulders, and gold horns.
3. Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens recently unveiled a new helmet design, and oh man, is it amazing.
The helmet has like a metallic-looking purple tone with a logo that’s been used on alternate uniforms since 1999. I do wonder what it would look like with the first-ever Ravens logo from 1996, but the one since 1999 is certainly more graphically enhanced and defined.
The helmet also has a mustard-like facemask and two lines down the center of the helmet.
Beyond that, the Ravens have always had some of the best uniforms in the NFL, with their purple, black, and white jerseys.
2. Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers have four different jersey colors, including a powder blue-like, white, royal-like blue, and dark blue. Within these jersey colors, there are two with white pants, two with yellow pants, one with royal blue pants, and one with dark blue.
I’ll always love the powder blue — they’re some of the best jerseys in the NFL — but the all-dark blue with yellow outlines for the lightning bolts is an aggressive and imposing look.
1. Minnesota Vikings
Ending my list of the best NFL uniforms are the Vikings.
I’ve said numerous times that I enjoy black jerseys, but these new “iced-out” Vikings jerseys are amazing, and I will purchase one.
The ice-white helmet with a slight purple outline for the horn looks far better than a plain white helmet.
As for the jersey, it maintains that ice look that’s complemented by a slight grey to accentuate the white on the jersey.
The lettering is still Vikings purple, but it’s outlined with grey, which you’ll find a hint of throughout the jersey.
The winter theme of the jersey announcement showed off an awesome debut. This made picking “best jerseys in the NFL” much easier.
There’s only one thing that would make these jersey better: If the Vikings played outdoors more. These jerseys in the snow or a blizzard will be impossible for opponents to see.
