American Express Company Information
American Express was founded in 1850 in Buffalo, New York, and started as an express courier business. By the end of the 19th century, the company had already introduced several financial products and travel services that improved their clients' everyday lives. In 1958, American Express was among the first to introduce credit cards, offering the public an innovative and convenient payment method.
Then, in 1966, they launched the Charge Card in the US and Canada, which was purposed to serve as a payment method for traveling and entertainment. The 70s brought the service of the corporate cards program, while in the 80s, American Express had already reached Europe and South America.

In 1995, American Express launched the Membership Rewards program, originally named Membership Miles. Today, it is still one of the most popular rewards programs worldwide - you can accumulate points and pay with them at chosen partners' websites, in-store locations, hotels, restaurants, and more. Customers of AMEX can also redeem their points for gift cards.
American Express also launched a mobile app in 2013, making managing accounts, checking balances, and paying bills easier. Another strong sector of the company is the business cards and services. Small business cards, corporate cards, and solutions for startups are available.
