About Del Mar Racing Hotel
Del Mar Racing was the brainchild of one William Quigley, a former college coach. Quigley felt the San Diego area could benefit from more horse racing tracks, despite nearby Santa Anita Park opening several years prior. Along with Bing Crosby, he built a track on Del Mar Fairgrounds and hosted the first race in 1946 – what came to be known as Bing Crosby Stakes.
By the 1950s, the Bing Crosby Stakes had begun to attract a large following, transforming the Del Mar Racing track into one of the hotspots of horse racing and sports betting in San Diego area. The establishment would undergo a further increase in stature under current manager Joe Harper. Today, it’s considered one of the premium tracks in the US.
Del Mar Racing Amenities
The Del Mar Racing in San Diego sportsbook is jam-packed with amenities. The basic package includes grandstand access. It is the most affordable way to watch the race. The quality of services and prices go up for the clubhouse, where you can get a separate table and enjoy a meal while the action unfolds.
Yet another upgrade is the Turf Club, which contains private dining areas, sky rooms, and luxury suites for VIP clients. Bear in mind that Del Mar Racing is popular among Hollywood celebrities and big wigs from the business world, so it’s not out of the question to see and even meet a famous person there.
