Freehold Sportsbook

For the time being, the Freehold Raceway’s sportsbook only allows betting on horses, be that on track or off-track events. The management of the racetrack has announced its plans to integrate a sports betting operator and expand its business, but for now, there’s no date set in stone when this change will be implemented.

About Freehold Hotel

Freehold Raceway has been the site of horse racing since the early 1830s. 1953 was a memorable one for Freehold, as it was during a harness race when the first recorded triple dead heat photo finish was taken. In 1984, a large electrical fire destroyed the main building and that led to tents being used temporarily, as re-building finished in 1986.

In a joint venture, Penn National Gaming (NASDAQ: PENN) and Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment Inc bought the racetrack and have been operating it to this day, since 1998.
