Following an agreement with Penn National Gaming, Boom Sports has announced it has gained mobile and online betting access in five states. The tech provider and gaming developer will now be able to offer mobile sports betting and online casino betting in Mississippi, Ohio, New Mexico, Missouri, and Louisiana.

There is also speculation that Boom Sports may gain access to additional states in addition to these five. This would depend upon ongoing agreements with Penn National Gaming.

A Pivotal Moment for Boom Sports

Based in New York, Boom Sports now has licenses in those five states to operate sports betting and online casino gaming. The licenses will be valid for 20 years in each of the states. An official from Boom Sports, Stephen A. Murphy, said that it was a landmark moment for the operator.

Following the announcement, he said:

“This agreement marks a pivotal moment in the history of Boom Sports. As we aim to become the premier technology provider for the real-money online gaming industry, this deal will allow us to unveil our unique sportsbook vision directly to consumers.”

It should be mentioned that, as yet, none of the five states within the agreement offer online betting facilities, so the agreement will enable Boom Sports and Penn National to work towards the future of online casinos and sports betting in these areas.

Building Games and Products for Penn National

As a result of the agreement, Boom Sports will have primary licenses or ‘skins’ in Louisiana and Mississippi, with a second skin in Ohio and then skins in New Mexico and Missouri.

Murphy said that the choice of states had been deliberate, as the company wanted to ensure it had time to develop products before going live. In addition, Boom Sports is keen to set the precedent for mobile and online betting in these states rather than coming in as a competitor in states where online betting is already operational.

It was also revealed that Boom Sports has not made any upfront cash payment to Penn National in exchange for these licenses. Instead, under the agreement, Boom will focus on the creation of games and other products for Penn.

In fact, the first of these products has already been launched. The NASCAR Finish Line was launched in February, and a second product is set for launch over the next few months under the Barstool Sports brand.

Improving the Experience for Sports Betting Fans

Another thing Murphy was keen to point out was Boom Sport’s commitment to improving the experience for sports betting fans. He said that the company was determined to ‘win on technology and user experience.’ He also expressed how disappointed he was with the current lack of innovation in the United States in relation to gambling and betting apps.

According to Murphy, Boom Sports is ready to revolutionize sports betting with innovation that has not yet been seen. He said that this would give them the edge on competitors and could help to generate more interest in betting.
