Monmouth Park Racetrack, the thoroughbred racetrack in Oceanport, New Jersey, celebrated a milestone on Tuesday with the groundbreaking of a new 16,000-square-foot Caesars Sportsbook. The state-of-the-art facility, set to open in 2025, will feature both indoor and outdoor seating, a full-service Shake Shack restaurant, and an array of betting options for punters.

A New Era for Sports Betting at Monmouth Park

The ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter for Monmouth Park, which was the site of New Jersey’s first legal sports bet in June 2018. Governor Phil Murphy placed a $20 wager on the New Jersey Devils to win the 2019 Stanley Cup, signaling a new era of regulated sports betting in the state.

Since then, Monmouth Park has operated a sportsbook in partnership with Caesars Entertainment, initially under the William Hill brand before transitioning to Caesars Sportsbook in early 2022. The current sportsbook is housed in a renovated section of the historic grandstand, but the new standalone facility will significantly enhance the betting experience for patrons.

The forthcoming Caesars Sportsbook promises to be a game-changer for Monmouth Park. In addition to the Shake Shack restaurant, the facility will boast wall-to-wall flatscreen televisions and digital displays, ensuring unobstructed views of live sporting events from every angle and providing a complete sports betting experience for all patrons.

Bettors will have access to a staffed betting window and 25 self-service wagering kiosks, providing plenty of opportunities to place bets on their favorite teams and events. The sportsbook’s indoor and outdoor seating areas will accommodate a large number of guests, too, and it’s designed to be a “social space” for punters and their friends.

A Magnificent Addition to Monmouth Park

Dennis Drazin, operator of Monmouth Park Racetrack, expressed his excitement about the project, stating they’re:

Extremely excited to begin this next chapter with the upcoming opening of the new Caesars Sportsbook at Monmouth Park. We continue to see the growth and expansion we knew would happen. This will be a magnificent addition to the Monmouth Park facility as our partnership with Caesars continues to evolve.

In addition to the retail sportsbook, Monmouth Park has also partnered with Caesars to deliver an online sports betting facility available throughout New Jersey. Punters can now create an account through the racetrack’s website – allowing them to place bets through Caesars Sportsbook. Bets can be placed from anywhere within New Jersey, too – so it’s not just limited to the racetrack. Verification checks are carried out to ensure that bettors are located within the state.

If the online sports betting platform from Monmouth Park Racetrack and Caesars proves to be a success, we may even see the two companies partnering in other gambling areas – like an online casino. Of course, there’s still a year or so to go before the retail sportsbook opens, and it remains to be seen as to whether it will prove to be a success. So far, however, racetrack-based sportsbooks have done well – and everything looks promising for Monmouth Park.
