This year is a leap year, meaning that there was an extra day in February, which comes every four years.
One sportsbook operator took the opportunity to use this extra day to launch its online service in New York, joining a range of other sportsbook operators in this huge market. Fanatics Sportsbook launched its online platform in the state on Leap Day, marking its 15th state in the USA.
The sportsbook operator has already enjoyed success in a range of other states across the nation, including Colorado, Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Vermont, and West Virginia, among others.
Fanatics has also just gone live in North Carolina – legal sports betting went live there this month. Fanatics Casino is also available in a handful of states, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, and West Virginia.
Fanatics Sportsbook Completes Transfer of PointsBet Player Accounts
It was also revealed that Fanatics has completed the migration process for PointsBet customers to its platform in New York. The transfer, which began in August 2023 following Fanatics’ acquisition of PointsBet’s US operations, marks a crucial milestone in Fanatics’ expansion strategy. According to PlayUSA:
In August 2023, Fanatics Betting and Gaming began acquiring PointsBet’s US operations and planning the migration of PointsBet customers to the Fanatics Sportsbook app. All this time, Fanatics has been working to migrate PointsBet customers in various states to its online gambling platform.
All PointsBet customer details, such as usernames, passwords, account balances, rewards points, and responsible gaming settings, have been integrated into the Fanatics Sportsbook app. This move reflects the operator’s commitment to streamlining the user experience and enhancing accessibility for sports betting enthusiasts.
The Fanatics Sportsbook boasts a range of features designed to provide an exciting experience for sports fans. With a focus on simplicity and transparency, the platform offers a fast sign-up process, intuitive betting options, and efficient withdrawal options.
Other features include the FanCash system, allowing players to earn up to 5 percent of their bet value in FanCash. There is also the Discover feed, which provides valuable insights and trending betting opportunities.
As Fanatics enters the fiercely competitive New York online sports betting market, it joins several other operators that have already been licensed by the New York State Gaming Commission. The company secured its position as the tenth licensee after acquiring PointsBet and obtaining regulatory approval back in October.
Huge Growth in New York’s Sports Betting Sector
The move comes at a time of exceptional growth in the New York sports betting sector. Following a record-breaking 2023, operators reported an impressive $211.5 million in revenue in January, with nearly $2 billion in betting handle.
Fanatics now enters this thriving market alongside industry giants like FanDuel and DraftKings, which have consistently generated substantial revenue. According to reports, FanDuel reached $100 million and DraftKings reached $71 million in revenue in a single month.
With its entry into New York, Fanatics Sportsbook is set to capitalize on the state’s thriving sports betting market while offering customers a comprehensive and user-friendly platform for their betting needs.
